This Solar Wind Bridge concept was designed by Italian designers Francesco Colarossi, Giovanna Saracino and Luisa Saracino, as their entry to a competition to design a bridge spanning the gap between the Bagnara and Scilla.
Their brigde would measure 12.4 miles, and its wind turbines would generate enough electricity to power 15,000 houses a year. Solar panels would also generate electricity, and greenhouses would allow passing drivers to buy roadside fruit and vegetables from independant growers.
